The size of the bubble represents the relative number of individual workstations. The center of each bubble aligns with the average occupancy for that cost center. Cost centers with very low occupancy rates might be good candidates for desk sharing, including Tech 6, Tech 1, and Business 8.</image:caption>

<image:caption>One finding from observing similar sites was that there did not seem to be a best practice for how collaborative spaces should be laid out. Each site had different distributions of open, semi-open, and private spaces for individuals. However, giving people options for the type of space they wanted, or allowing the layout to change easily, became a requirement.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gap between perception and utilization</image:title>
<image:caption>We compared data collected in the usability study about meeting room occupancy with data from the scheduling system. Through this comparison, we were able to identify two important discrepancies: when meeting rooms are scheduled but not actually being used and when meeting rooms are being used but aren’t scheduled. Meeting rooms which require scheduling were misused an average of 14% of the time overall, and scheduling a meeting room then not using it was the larger issue, occurring 21% of the time across both buildings.</image:caption>
